Physiotherapy

Nutrition Program

Daily physiotherapy is crucial to ensure the best possible outcome for patients. The aim is to limit the chance of an ongoing disability and preserve a patient’s independence.

The physiotherapy program helps manage pain, control infection, prevent   circulation limitations and contractures, prevent breathing complications and depending on the pathology, restore the patient’s mobility as soon as possible.

BVS-Nepal offers daily physiotherapy consultations to burns patients in the Trauma Centre, Kathmandu. The physiotherapy sessions commence from the day of admission, continue throughout the hospitalisation period and continue when the patient is discharged. Individual exercises are explained to family members to ensure they are able to continue the treatment when a patient returns home. The treatment includes physical therapy for positioning, splinting, exercise and occupational therapy to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).

In 2016, more than 54 patients received daily physiotherapy consultations with the support of C.H.A.N.C.E for Nepal (UK).
